23 January 2005 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – The global law firm Clifford Chance LLP is announcing that senior associates Victoria Bortkevicha and Yuri Golovanov have been named to the position of “Counsel”. The title “Counsel” is reserved for senior lawyers who are of outstanding ability and have made an exceptional contribution to the law firm.

Victoria Bortkevicha began working for Clifford Chance LLP in Moscow in January 1994 and specialises in banking and finance law and project finance transactions, having worked on major transactions in the oil, metals, municipal and telecommunications sectors. Victoria has on two occasions been seconded to the London office of Clifford Chance LLP where she worked in the Project Finance group.

Victoria completed a Bachelor Diploma with honours in Financial Law (1990-1995) and Masters Diploma in Financial Law (1995-1997) from the People’s Friendship University of the Russian Federation. In addition she completed a LLM in Commercial Law (1999-2000), King’s College of Law, London and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law, College of Law (London University), Great Britain.

Yuri Golovanov began working for Clifford Chance LLP in Moscow in October 1995 and specialises in banking and finance law and capital market transactions, having worked on major transactions in the oil, metals, municipal and telecommunications sectors. Yuri has on two occasions been seconded to the New York office of Clifford Chance LLP where he worked in the Securities and Financial Restructuring Groups.

Yuri completed a Masters of Laws, with honours (1988-1993) from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, School of International Law. In addition he completed Master of Laws (LL.M.) (1993-1994), Northwestern University School of Law, Chicago, IL, USA.

Yuri is admitted to the Bar associations in both New York and Russia.
