Morrison & Foerster Washington, D.C. partner Lisa Phelan* was presented with Global Competition Review’s (GCR) Pathmaker Award at the GCR Live 2nd Annual Women in Antitrust all-conference dinner. GCR Live Women in Antitrust is an annual event that brings together some of the world’s leading competition practitioners for two days of discussion and debate.
GCR’s Pathmaker Award specifically recognizes the individual who best represents diversity in competition practice. Ms. Phelan has long been paving a path for women in antitrust, particularly in the field of cartels, making her highly deserving of such an honor.
Ms. Phelan is a member of the firm’s Global Antitrust Law Practice and Investigations + White Collar Group. Before joining the firm in July of 2018, she spent 32 years at the U.S. Department of Justice where she prosecuted more than 300 criminal antitrust cases and obtained more than $6 billion in criminal fines.
She was the first woman to head a criminal team prosecuting national and international cases at the U.S. Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division and the longest-serving female chief at the agency—having spent 16 years leading the National Criminal and Washington Criminal I Sections of the Antitrust Division.
Ms. Phelan is a champion for the advancement of women, founding the “Women in Cartels” group and serving on the firm’s Women’s Strategy Committee.
