LAWFUEL – Legal News, Legal Jobs – R. Alexander Acosta, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, announced today that defendant Charles McArthur Emmanuel, a/k/a Charles “Chuckie” Taylor, Jr., pled guilty to the one-count Indictment previously filed against him, which charged him with using and attempting to use a United States passport obtained through false statements on the passport application, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1542. He was arrested on March 30, 2006 by ICE agents when he arrived at Miami International Airport on a flight from Trinidad.

The defendant pled to the Indictment, without a plea agreement with the United States. At sentencing, the defendant faces a maximum statutory penalty of ten (10) years in prison. Sentencing has been scheduled for November 22, 2006 at 9:00 a.m., before United States District Court Judge Donald L. Graham.

Mr. Acosta commended the investigative efforts of ICE, with assistance from the Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
