Vienna, Prague – LAWFUEL – Legal News & Legal Jobs Worldwide – DLA Piper Weiss-Tessbach today announced that it has appointed international commercial partner, Peter Valert as a partner in its Prague office.
Peter Valert, 44, was born in the Czech Republic and is qualified as both a Czech advocate and US attorney. He specialises in commercial law and has more than 12-years experience as a legal advisor in the Czech Republic and in Bulgaria. Peter’s main areas of practice focus on telecommunications, IT and intellectual property law, however he also advises on arbitration, litigation and other types of dispute resolution.
His clients include international media firms, telecommunications companies and TV stations, who he advises on both contentious and non-contentious matters. Peter also has experience in M&A transactions in the Central and Eastern Europe (“CEE”) region and has acted for both international companies and government entities.
Peter joins DLA Piper Weiss-Tessbach from CMS Cameron McKenna, where he was responsible for coordinating its commercial practice in Prague and headed the office in Sofia. Peter’s appointment will significantly strengthen DLA Piper Weiss-Tessbach’s Prague office and his expertise will help to further develop the firm’s telecommunications, IT, and IP practices across CEE.

Earlier in his career, Peter served as a legal advisor in the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs and at the Czechoslovak Federal Supreme Court.
He holds a JD from the Whittier College School of Law in Los Angeles and a BA from the University of California.
