HARRISBURG, Pa., Feb. 28 LAWFUEL – Legal News — Governor Edward G. Rendell today signed a warrant for the execution by lethal injection of Kevin J. Marinelli of Northumberland County.
Marinelli’s execution is scheduled for Thursday, April 26.
In August 1995, Marinelli was sentenced to death for the first-degree
murder of 35-year-old Conrad Dumchock during a robbery at Dumchock’s home.
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court affirmed Marinelli’s sentence on Feb.
25, 1997.
Two execution warrants were issued, but the execution was stayed each
time; first, to allow certiorari proceedings in the United States Supreme
Court, and second, to allow post-conviction proceedings in state court.
Post- conviction relief was denied by the PCRA court, and the Pennsylvania
Supreme Court affirmed the denial of PCRA relief on Nov. 27, 2006. The
Court denied reargument on Jan. 24, 2007, lifting the second stay of
execution.
Marinelli, 34, is an inmate at the State Correctional Institution at
Greene.
