Charles D. Ferris is a member in the firm’s Washington office, practicing in the Communications Section. His practice focuses primarily on communications and federal relations law. He was named to the 2006-2007 Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and 2007 Best Lawyers in America. Mr. Ferris received his B.A. from Boston College (1954), and his J.D. from Boston College Law School (1961), where he was a member of the Boston College Law Review. He received an honorary doctorate from Boston College (1978). Mr. Ferris is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and in Massachusetts and is a member of the District of Columbia Bar Association.
David Barmak is a member in the firm’s Washington office, where he practices in and chairs the firm’s Employment, Labor and Benefits Section. Mr. Barmak has extensive experience representing companies and their executives on a broad range of employment law issues, including matters involving the wage and hour and discrimination laws, non-compete agreements, and executive employment arrangements. He has substantial trial experience, including jury and non-jury trials and arbitrations of employment law issues and complex business disputes. Mr. Barmak is a past member of the Firm’s Policy Committee and managed the Firm’s Northern Virginia office until its 2006 consolidation with the Washington office. In 2006, he was named to the Virginia Super Lawyers list. Mr. Barmak received his B.A., magna cum laude, from the State University of New York at Buffalo (1973) and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center (1976). He is a member of the Virginia, District of Columbia, Maryland and New York bars.
Howard J. Symons is a member in the firm’s Washington office and practices in the Communications Section. Mr. Symons represents a wide range of cable, wireless, and telecommunications companies and trade associations in regulatory and legislative matters, including implementation of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 and ongoing legislative review of the act. He was named to the 2006 Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, 2007 The Best Lawyers in America and 2007 Chambers Global: World’s Leading Lawyers for Business. Susan Neuberger Weller is a member in the firm’s Washington office, practicing in the Intellectual Property Section. She manages the firm’s trademark practice. Her practice involves all aspects of intellectual property and related corporate business transactions, with a particular emphasis on domestic and international trademark and copyright searching, prosecution, enforcement, counseling, and litigation.
