LAWFUEL – The Law Firm Newswire – Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer announced today that David Winfield has taken over as head of the banking group in London. David has been a partner in the firm since 1995 and has worked in the firm’s London and New York offices.
Martin Hutchings has also joined the partnership with effect from 1 May 2007. Martin has a broad banking practice encompassing all aspects of banking work with an emphasis on leveraged finance, acquisition finance and property finance.
David Winfield said, ‘It is an exciting time to take this role as head of the banking team. We have had a very successful year, which has seen strong growth in our lender and private equity practices. Our partners continue to raise the profile of the practice and to work with our restructuring team on complex workouts. We will continue to see an increase in the scale of these high quality practice areas.
‘We are also very pleased to welcome Martin as a new partner. Martin trained with the firm and is a terrific addition to our talented group of young partners,’ he said.
David Winfield takes over the role from Edward Evans, who has held the role for nine years and will continue as a member of the group.
