ATLANTA (May 18) — Kilpatrick Stockton announced today that Financial Transactions, Real Estate and Restructuring Department Partner, Al Lurey, is the 2007 recipient of the annual Atlanta Bar Association Bankruptcy Section David Pollard Award. Each year, the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Bar Association Bankruptcy Section presents the David Pollard Award to “a person who is a member of the Atlanta Bar who best exemplifies the highest standards of professionalism and ethics in the bankruptcy practice.”
Al Lurey has been a partner with Kilpatrick Stockton since 1975. Mr. Lurey has been instrumental in the management or resolution of cases for top-tier clients in the chemical, airline and hospitality industries. He has served as president and chairman of the Board of Directors of The Southeastern Bankruptcy Law Institute, Inc., as well as chairman of the UCC Committee of the Corporate and Banking Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia. He is a contributor to the Prentice Hall Law & Business Bankruptcy Litigation Manual (Michael L. Cook ed.), having written the chapters on “Insider Litigation” and “Preferences.” Mr. Lurey is a fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy, has been an adjunct professor at Emory Law School, and is a frequent lecturer at seminars on bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, and secured lending.
Mr. Lurey has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America® for Bankruptcy Law since 1983. He was recognized as one of Atlanta’s “Legal Elite” in the December 2003 issue of Georgia Trend Magazine.
