LAWFUEL – The Law Newswire – Ogier has been named Jersey Law Firm of the Year 2007 in the Who’s Who Legal Awards, just days after becoming “Offshore Law Firm of the Year 2007” in the inaugural Citywealth Magic Circle awards.
10 Ogier lawyers are also featured in the International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers section.
The award was based on independent research involving thousands of nominations from clients and private practice professionals across 27 areas of the law to identify the leading firm in each of 48 countries and five US States.
Recent ‘firsts’ for the Group include acting in respect of the merger between RUSAL Ltd, Sual Int Ltd and Glencore Int AG to create the world’s largest aluminium corporation (with an approximate market value of US$30bn), and following the introduction of the Jersey Listed Funds Guide in January 2007, Ogier acted on the first investment fund to be regulated under the new regime.
Editor in Chief Callum Campbell said: “Ogier’s success demonstrates its consistent and unparalleled level of individual and collective talent. We have no hesitation in declaring Ogier the leading firm in Jersey.”
Ogier Managing Partner Nick Kershaw, who was one of the individuals listed, said: “As a global offshore law firm we certainly appreciate the value of this international endorsement, which is further recognition of our high standards and a tribute to our award-winning team of lawyers.”
The book is distributed free of charge to thousands of corporate counsel and private practice lawyers from around the world and is also available at www.whoswholegal.com.
The publisher, Law Business Research Limited, is the official partner of the International Bar Association and has been recognised by The Queen’s Award for Enterprise.
