14 August 2007 – LAWFUEL – The Legal Newswire – The Board of Management and Supervisory Board of Akzo Nobel N.V. and the Board of Imperial Chemicals Industries PLC (ICI) have announced that they have reached agreement on the terms of a recommended cash offer by Akzo Nobel for the entire issued and to be issued share capital of ICI. The offer price values the entire existing issued ordinary share capital of ICI at approximately £8bn.

International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer advised ICI on the deal. The team was led by London corporate partner Martin Taylor with Jennifer Bethlehem (senior associate) and Michael Hilton (associate); plus Nicholas Squire (partner), Charles Magoffin (senior associate) and Alice Greenwell (associate) in employment, pensions and benefits; Nicholas French (partner) and Suzanne Rab (senior associate) in antitrust competition and trade; Robert Kent (partner) and Arun Birla (senior associate) in tax; and Jan Willem Van der Staay (corporate partner) in Amsterdam and Christoph Nawroth (corporate partner) in Düsseldorf.
