LAWFUEL – The Legal Newswire – A lawsuit filed by Kansas Attorney General Paul Morrison on Thursday will test the constitutionality of the state’s new expanded gambling statute, his office said.

Reuters report, “It is critical that this constitutional question be answered by the Kansas Supreme Court quickly,” Morrison said in a statement. “Investors and communities must be able to plan and move forward with economic development related to expanded gaming.”

The lawsuit asks the state’s high court to determine whether the gambling legislation, signed into law in April by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, adhered to a Kansas constitutional amendment allowing a state-owned and operated lottery.
