LAWFUEL – The Legal Newswire – The Mother of missing child Madeleine McCann is to be made a formal suspect in her disappearance, according to a McCann family spokesman.
AFP reports that McCann arrived at the police headquarters in the town of Portimao at 11:10am (1010 GMT) where hundreds of journalists and onlookers were waiting to be questioned about her daughter’s disappearance.
The mother was interviewed by police for 11 hours on Thursday. Her husband was to be questioned separately on Friday.
A family spokesman said earlier that Kate McCann, 39, expected to be named as an “arguido” — a formal suspect — when she returned for more questioning.
Her daughter, then aged three, disappeared on May 3 from the vacation apartment they were staying at in the Algarve seaside resort of Praia da Luz.
