Pumkin’s Father Convicted Of Assault Over Incident

LAWFUEL – Legal Newswire – The father of Nai Yin Xue, or ‘Pumkin’ as she has become commonly known, was convicted of assault over an incident in which his daughter Qian was injured, court documents show.

Xue, who abandoned Qian – dubbed Pumpkin by Australian authorities – at a Melbourne train station before fleeing to the United States, is now the main suspect in the murder of his wife An An Liu.

During an argument with An An on September 20 last year, Xue threw a mobile phone at his wife which bounced off her and hit the child in the head, documents released to the New Zealand Herald by the Waitakere District Court say.

The incident left Qian with a small cut and a swollen forehead, the paper reported.

The documents said Xue then hit his wife “two or three times, striking her above her right eye and nose area”.
