Attorneys Speak Up – Luce Forward Women Speak At Three Engagements

SAN DIEGO (September 24, 2007) – LAWFUEL – The Law Firm Newswire – Three female partners at Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps, one of California’s leading full-service law firms, have accepted speaking engagements at national and international conferences in October. S. Elizabeth Foster will be speaking at the Legal Industry Outsourcing Forum in San Francisco, Michelle Graham will present at the International Bar Association’s (IBA) annual meeting in Singapore as well as a Pacific Rim Advisory Council (PRAC) meeting in South Korea, and Nancy Scull will speak at ICSC’s U.S. Shopping Center Law Conference here in San Diego.

“These women are phenomenal attorneys and highly proficient in their practice areas,” said Robert J. Bell, Luce Forward’s managing partner. “Being invited by such prestigious conferences to speak on these topics further demonstrates the depth of Luce Forward’s offerings, and the benefit this specialized knowledge extends to our clients.”

Foster, a member of Luce Forward’s business/corporate practice group, will be speaking on “India and Legal Outsourcing: 2007 and Beyond” on October 4th. In her seminar, she will discuss how the changing climate in India is affecting business and legal opportunities, as well as outsourcing capabilities. She will also provide information on which law firms are currently engaged in outsourcing to India and what benefits U.S. law firms and their business clients receive by outsourcing. Foster frequently travels to India for both business and pleasure and has represented clients in cross-border business transactions for more than 10 years. Foster also currently serves as Chair of the San Diego World Trade Center, an organization focused on expanding international business in San Diego County.

Graham is a family wealth and exempt organization attorney whose two presentations will focus on “International Estate Planning for the Asian Family.” The IBA and PRAC conferences will take place on October 18th and October 22nd, respectively. She will cover the most common situations in which United States tax issues arise for a non-U.S. person and the consequences associated with each situation. Graham will also discuss conflicts of law issues, the United States transfer tax system and tax planning opportunities. In her practice, Graham emphasizes all aspects of tax and estate planning, estate and trust administration and tax-exempt charitable matters. She specializes in advising both U.S. and non-U.S. clients on tax planning matters and has done a substantial amount of work for migrating clients, including corporate executives.
Scull’s program at the International Conference of Shopping Centers’ U.S. Shopping Center Law Conference is titled “Mixed-Use Projects – The Odd Couple: Learning to Live Together in a Mixed-Use World.” The conference will take place on October 24-27 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego. Scull will explore what developers creating mixed-use projects need to know and things retailers buying or leasing space in a mixed-use project should consider, as well as what questions all parties involved need to ask to survive their mixed-use relationship. Scull has built her real estate practice by representing numerous publicly held developers, urban high-rise and mixed use developers, and developers of master planned communities in creating and processing projects and implementing programs to minimize liability.
