Transition to Take Effect in 2009
LAWFUEL – The Law Firm Newswire – Blank Rome is pleased to name new officers to its leadership team. Effective January 1, 2009, Alan J. Hoffman and Thomas M. (Mike) Dyer will become co-chairmen of Blank Rome LLP. David F. Girard-diCarlo will resign his term as chairman, concurrently. In addition, Carl M. Buchholz has been re-elected as managing partner and CEO, and Gary R. Goldenberg has been named finance partner.

Blank Rome has been proactive in evolving the Firm’s management structure and implementing a new leadership team. The newly elected officers bring a great complement of institutional knowledge, strong client relationships, extensive legal experience, and business acumen to their new roles.
As head of Blank Rome’s litigation department, Mr. Hoffman oversees more than 200 attorneys within six practice groups, across ten cities. He handles a variety of complex corporate and criminal litigation, and serves as national lead trial counsel in the defense of more than 100 environmental pollution and product liability cases on behalf of a multinational chemical company. Mr. Hoffman has acquired extensive trial and appellate experience in both federal and state courts, and he devotes a significant amount of time to preventative counseling on behalf of clients. He began his career with the U.S. Department of Justice, where he received the Attorney General’s Special Commendation Award for his trial achievements. Mr. Hoffman has received the highest possible rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
Mr. Dyer is chairman of Blank Rome’s Washington, DC office, head of Blank Rome’s business department, and a senior principal and director for Blank Rome Government Relations LLC. He counsels clients on a variety of transactional and regulatory issues, both strategically and in crisis-management situations. Mr. Dyer has practiced in Washington, DC for more than 30 years, and is widely recognized for his extensive experience representing clients in complex business transactions both in Washington, DC, and within the international maritime community. He was a founding partner of Dyer Ellis & Joseph, which merged with Blank Rome in 2003, and has received the highest possible rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
Mr. Goldenberg is a member of Blank Rome’s Partner Board, and serves on various Firm committees. As finance partner, he will be responsible for all aspects of the Firm’s finances, including its audit and budget activities. He concentrates his practice in the areas of business and corporate law, advising clients on mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures; private equity and venture capital transactions; emerging business matters; lender and borrower transactions; financing and capital-raising transactions; and general corporate, partnership, and limited liability company matters.
