Law Firm Appointments – Ober|Kaler Adds Five Associates

BALTIMORE October 30, 2007 — LAWFUEL – The Legal Newswire – Ober|Kaler is pleased to announce the addition of five associates, including three first-year associates, to the firm this fall.

Cynthia Blake Sanders, formerly of Astrachan Gunst & Thomas, P.C., joins Ober|Kaler’s Intellectual Property Group. Ms. Blake is an experienced IP lawyer with a practice spanning copyright, trademark, fair use, licensing, advertising, and technology transfer issues. She represents health care companies, colleges and universities, advertising agencies, trade associations, publishers, producers, music labels, authors and software developers, as well as artists and designers working in various disciplines.

Ms. Sanders is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art (B.F.A., 1985) and the University of Maryland School of Law (J.D., 1999). She serves on the boards of Maryland Lawyers for the Arts and Black Cherry Puppet Theater, and is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association’s Intellectual Property and Entertainment and Sports Law Sections. Ms. Sanders lives in the community of Roland Park in Baltimore.

Carolyn W. Nazelrod joins Ober|Kaler’s Estates & Trusts practice. Ms. Nazelrod counsels clients regarding estate and tax planning and assists with various fiduciary matters, including estate and trust administration. Prior to joining Ober|Kaler, she was an associate at Bauersfeld, Burton, Hendricks & Vanderhoof, LLC in Bethesda.

Ms. Nazelrod is a graduate of Frostburg State University (B.S., magna cum laude, 1999) and the University of Maryland School of Law (J.D., 2004) where she served on the board of The Business Lawyer. She is a member of the American Bar Association’s Section on Real Property, Probate and Trust Law, and the Maryland State Bar Association’s Section on Estates and Trusts. Ms. Nazelrod resides in New Market, Maryland.

The firm has also added three first-year associates. All are expected to be formally admitted to the bar in December:

Ian Friedman joins the firm’s complex civil litigation practice. A graduate of James Madison University (B.B.A., 2000) and the University of Maryland School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 2007), Ian is a licensed CPA and a resident of Baltimore.

Adam D. Kaplan joins the Estates & Trusts Group. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland (B.A., summa cum laude, 2004) and the University of Maryland School of Law (J.D., magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, 2007) and a resident of Washington, D.C.

Anwar L. Young joins the Business & Tax Group. He holds degrees from the Johns Hopkins University (B.S., 2001), Morgan State University, (M.B.A., summa cum laude, 2004) and the University of Baltimore School of Law (J.D., 2007). He is a resident of the Reservoir Hill community of Baltimore.
