Clifford Chance’s Big Appointment News
Clifford Chance has appointed Chinwe Odimba-Chapman as its new London managing partner and co-regional managing partner for Europe, effective January 1, 2025.
The appointment makes Odimba-Chapman the first black London managing partner in the firm’s history.
Odimba-Chapman is a distinguished employment law partner, who joined Clifford Chance as a trainee in 2002 after studying law at the London School of Economics. . Currently serving as the global people and talent partner, Odimba-Chapman has played a crucial role in shaping the firm’s human resources strategies and initiatives.
She has been instrumental in driving diversity and inclusion initiatives at Clifford Chance, serving as the partner champion for the firm’s REACH (Race Equality and Celebrating Heritage) UK committee.
She will succeed Michael Bates, who is stepping down after seven successful years as the firm’s UK regional managing partner. Bates will transition back to his finance and infrastructure practice.
Charles Adams, Clifford Chance’s global managing partner, expressed confidence in Odimba-Chapman’s appointment, highlighting the firm’s commitment to maintaining its strong market position in the UK.
Clifford Chance has had some profitable times of late, turning in a robust financial performance reporting a 9 percent increase in global revenues to £2.3 billion and a 10 percent rise in partnership profits to £856 million.
