LAWFUEL – Legal Newswire Service – As part of the firm’s expansion, Holman Fenwick & Willan (HFW) has announced that Dr Dan Horovitz (Partner) is joining the firm’s Corporate, Projects & Finance Group in February. He will be based in the firm’s new Brussels office.
As a leading international trade, regulatory and competition lawyer for over 20 years, Dan adds greatly to HFW’s expanding corporate capabilities, which have received some real focus from the firm over the last two to three years; especially in the areas of M&A and competition. Dan advises on regional and global trade rules and policies, including the liberalisation of services, (communications, transport, energy), public procurement and investments. His practice covers market access regulation and litigation (including sovereign disputes), where he acts for both business and government clients in administrative and judicial proceedings, as well as in dispute settlement in the WTO and before regional (FTA) organs. Notably, Dan was counsel to two South East Asian governments involved in the first and so far only WTO dispute that was settled through mediation under WTO rules. He brings with him clients including leading food processing industries, chemical groups, steel, metals and minerals producers and traders, construction and heavy industries, as well as textile manufacturers and other light industries.
In his many years in Brussels, Dan worked with the European Commission and then in private practice, including as resident / managing partner of the Brussels office of another leading City firm. He lectures widely and is active in academia. He is a member of the Professional Advisory Board of the University of Hong Kong’s Asian Institute of International Financial Law and a member of the Advisory Editorial Board of Sweet & Maxwell’s International Trade & Regulation Journal. In 2006 he was elected, for a two year term, as Chair of the Trade & Customs Law Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA).
