Serafini, Ph.D., as a partner in its firmwide intellectual property group. Dr. Serafini is resident in the firm’s Seattle office, where his practice focuses on strategic intellectual property counseling for life sciences companies.

Dr. Serafini has extensive experience in patent prosecution, strategic IP counseling and management, due diligence and litigation support. Dr. Serafini provides intellectual property legal services to biotechnology, biopharmaceutical and other life sciences companies, particularly in the areas of immunology, molecular biology, molecular genetics, genomics, proteomics and protein chemistry, pharmaceuticals, medical therapeutics and medical diagnostics. His clients include emerging companies as well as public companies in the life sciences sector, as well as public and private universities and research institutions throughout the Pacific Northwest, San Francisco Bay Area and Southern California, as well as across the country and abroad.

Dr. Serafini is a member of the American Bar Association, American Intellectual Property Law Association, Washington State Patent Law Association, Licensing Executive Society, Biotechnology Industry Organization and Washington Biotechnology and Biomedical Association.

Dr. Serafini received a J.D. in 1998 from the University of California, Hastings College of Law. He also received a Ph.D. in immunology in 1994 from the Stanford University School of Medicine and a B.S., with honors, in biochemistry in 1986 from the Case Institute of Technology of Case Western Reserve University. He is a member of the Washington Bar and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Prior to joining Fenwick & West, he was a partner at Woodcock Washburn in Seattle.
