Six Weeks Added To Paid Leave in Connection with Birth, Adoption
HOUSTON – Andrews Kurth LLP is proud to announce that the firm has expanded its paid maternity leave from 12 weeks to 18 weeks.
Under this expansion of the firm’s policy, a primary childcare provider will receive an additional six weeks of paid leave in connection with the birth or adoption of a child. “We are very pleased to offer this significant expansion of paid leave to our lawyers,” says Andrews Kurth Managing Partner Bob Jewell. “This is just one way that we can demonstrate the value we place on our colleagues and the respect we have for their families and for them as individuals. Several other national firms have comparable policies, but this action confirms our leadership in this area among the Texas-based firms.”
In addition to the 18-week leave for primary childcare providers, Andrews Kurth is also providing two weeks paid leave for non-primary childcare providers in connection with a birth or adoption. These changes take effect immediately and are available to those lawyers currently on leave or preparing for leave.
“This change emphasizes the value we place on personal as well as professional fulfillment,” adds Meredith Mouer, Partner and Co-Chair of the firm’s Women’s Initiative Team. “Our leadership in this area demonstrates our commitment to providing an atmosphere that helps us attract and retain the best lawyers.”
