(LAWFUEL) June 4, 2008 (Mountain View, CA) – Fenwick & West LLP, a leading technology and life sciences law firm, is pleased to announce that IDG’s InfoWorld has named its Chief Technology Officer, Matt Kesner, as one of InfoWorld’s Top 25 Chief Technology Officers for 2008.
Kesner was lauded by InfoWorld for his efforts to expand the Firm’s client-facing technology expertise from litigation support to a fully functioning practice group that uses technology to improve the delivery of legal services across the firm’s thirteen practice groups. Established six years ago, the Fenwick & West Electronic Information Management (EIM) Group now includes eight lawyers, three IT professionals, and an IT director who acts as the lead forensics investigator. So far, the EIM Group has garnered repeat customers and referrals, and is on track toward seven-digit revenue this year.
“As a firm servicing the world’s leading technology and life sciences companies, we strive to emulate their intense drive for innovation. This culture of continual improvement imbues every aspect of our firm, including how we use technology to better service our clients,” stated Kesner. “I feel very fortunate to work at a law firm that is so supportive of our IT group’s efforts to experiment and grow.”
“Matt was far ahead of the curve with regard to developing the firm’s capability to handle large-scale IT projects,” says Lois Boyd, Fenwick & West’s Chief Operating Officer. “Instead of outsourcing this work at a significantly higher price, we are now capable of competing with firms much larger than ours as to quality, efficiency and price.”
“This year’s honorees showed how a savvy CTO can make a huge difference in leading their business to success, whether in creating a world-class product or making a critical business priority happen the right way,” said Galen Gruman, executive editor of InfoWorld. “We were struck by how the best CTOs combined solid, strategic technology thinking with management prowess to make their successes happen.”
Every year since 2001, InfoWorld has honored senior IT executives who have demonstrated leadership within their companies and in the IT community. The 2008 InfoWorld CTO 25 feature, including InfoWorld’s expert reporting and analysis, appears online at http://www.infoworld.com/5265.
