LOS ANGELES, CA, June 19, 2008 (LAWFUEL) – O’Melveny & Myers LLP announced that its Entertainment and Media Practice received Chambers and Partners’ highest recognition at the annual Chambers USA Awards for Excellence ceremony, held on June 12 in New York City. Joseph Calabrese and Dale Cendali accepted the 2008 Award for Excellence in the Media category on behalf of the Firm, which award combines both transactional and adversarial work.
O’Melveny’s Entertainment and Media practice prevailed over more than a half-dozen other leading firms for the top spot. The Chambers Awards are based solely on references and accolades provided to Chambers by law firm clients. Chambers is widely viewed as one of the most objective ratings services in the legal profession.

Overall, the Firm had its best showing to date, with 64 O’Melveny lawyers and 38 practice groups recognized in the Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business 2008 guide. The Media and Entertainment Transactions practice group was one of five areas in which O’Melveny ranked in the top tier. The Media and Entertainment Litigation practice and the Sports Law practice were ranked as “Leading Practices” by Chambers USA.
Partner Dale Cendali, a member of the Entertainment and Media Litigation group was ranked in the top-tier of lawyers in New York. Litigation partners Daniel Petrocelli and Robert Schwartz, along with Transactions partners Joseph Calabrese, Christopher Murray, and Stephen Scharf, earned “Leading Lawyer” designations. Calabrese was listed in both the Media and Entertainment, and Sports Law categories.
