Baker & McKenzie to Host Indian Outbound Investment Seminar

Hong Kong, June 25, 2008 (LAWFUEL) – Baker & McKenzie will host a seminar on “Indian Outbound Investment: The Key to Success” in collaboration with the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry (“Bombay Chamber”) at the Trident hotel in Mumbai on July 2, 2008.

The seminar will address those critical issues which Indian companies that are considering undertaking global strategic investments need to be across. These include current market trends and outbound investment opportunities, cross-border M&A strategies and successful post-acquisition integration tactics. With the increasing investment of Indian companies overseas, an understanding of these issues and how to minimize risk in such transactions, is becoming increasingly important.

The half-day seminar will be led by Baker & McKenzie’s India Focus Group and will bring together 17 lawyers from Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America, and North America including lawyers from the following offices: Bangkok, Buenos Aires, Chicago, London, Munich, New York, Paris, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo and Zurich. Leading speakers from the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and leading multinationals – the Aditya Birla Group, Ambit Holdings, GMR Group, Kotak Investment Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra, PwC and KPMG will also share valuable insights.

“India has been an important market for Baker & McKenzie, and for over 40 years, we have assisted Indian companies with their business activities overseas and acted as international counsel for multinationals when they invest in India,” said David Jacobs, Baker & McKenzie’s Asia Pacific Regional Chairman and Head of the Firm’s India Focus Group.

Commenting on the upcoming seminar, David Jacobs said, “We are delighted to have the opportunity to co-host this seminar with the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
