New York (Aug. 5, 2008) LAWFUEL – Global law firm Squire, Sanders & Dempsey L.L.P. has expanded its New York office significantly with the addition of lawyers in the practices of litigation, international dispute resolution (IDR) and bankruptcy litigation.

Stanton noted the New York office expansion follows the May 2008 opening of the firm’s office in São Paulo, Brazil and additions to its Kyiv, Ukraine office.
Partners George B. Yankwitt, Mary M. Chang and Robert A. Wolf join Squire Sanders from the New York office of Bryan Cave. In addition, Squire Sanders trial lawyer Andrew Agati recently moved to New York from the firm’s Cleveland office.

George B. Yankwitt, a past president of the Federal Bar Council, has experience in all aspects of commercial litigation and has tried cases in federal and state courts in New York, California, Texas, Wyoming and elsewhere, as well as in Bankruptcy Court and in arbitration and administrative as well as individuals and venture capitalists in a broad
range of cases involving corporate/securities, real estate, professional responsibility, insurance, alternate dispute resolution and unfair competition. Yankwitt has served for many years as a vice president and member of the board of the Legal Aid Society, and as an adjunct professor of law in the area of professional responsibility. He received his B.S. from Cornell University and his LL.B., with distinction, from Cornell.
Mary M. Chang has experience in all aspects of civil litigation in state and federal courts, as well as before administrative and arbitration tribunals. She has particular expertise in real estate, products liability and insurance coverage litigation. She serves as outside counsel for a national real estate firm, providing risk management advice and counseling. Chang received her received her B.A., magna cum laude, from Boston College and her J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.
Robert A. Wolf is active in all aspects of bankruptcy litigation, real estate litigation and other commercial litigation, with particular concentration in litigation involving fraudulent transfers under the Bankruptcy Code and litigation affecting loan problems, including real estate mortgage foreclosures, foreclosures on Uniform Commercial Code interests involving cooperatives and enforcement of guarantees. He also has extensive experience negotiating workout agreements. Wolf has represented bankruptcy trustees, numerous lending institutions and other interested parties in litigation in both state and federal courts and has argued appeals in both forums. He has been a member of a New York State Bar Association task force to reform New York’s mortgage foreclosure laws. Wolf received his B.A., cum laude, from Princeton University and his J.D. from New York University.

Squire Sanders Continues Its New York Growth with New Maritime Law Practice
New York (Aug. 4, 2008) – Three members of a premier maritime law practice have joined global law firm Squire, Sanders & Dempsey L.L.P. as the firm continues to expand its New York presence. The new Squire Sanders lawyers are Brian D. Starer, Douglas R. Burnett and Juan A. Anduiza.

Starer, Burnett and Anduiza have a diverse practice that includes casualty, pollution and salvage; energy, LNG/LPG and cables; intermodal and terminals; maritime and logistics contracts; regulatory issues and government and maritime security; vessel financings; maritime bankruptcies and workouts, including maritime liens.

Starer is a leading maritime law practitioner of international reputation and standing. His maritime practice for 30 years has focused primarily on marine groundings, sinkings, fires, collisions and environmental pollution. Starer has lectured and published widely on all aspects of maritime law relating to the prevention and resolution of maritime disasters. He has received high rankings in directories such as The Best Lawyers in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Chambers USA: America’s Leading Business Lawyers and Chambers Global. He is an international law adviser to the International Cable Protection Committee, an international organization of more than 80 administrations and commercial companies in more than 40 countries that own or operate in the international submarine cable network. Burnett has testified before the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, is a frequent lecturer and author, and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America. He received his B.A. from the US Naval Academy and his J.D. from the University of Denver College of Law.
Juan A. Anduiza is an experienced trial lawyer who handles commercial and maritime arbitrations and trials and is also involved with multinational commercial transactions. He has been involved in maritime-related matters ranging from casualties to the detention of vessels. Anduiza is expected to help expand Squire Sanders’ Latin America practice in commercial and maritime issues. He received his B.A. from Pace University and his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law.
