Tokyo – LawFuel – Legal Announcements – DLA Piper today announced the appointment of Daniel W Lee, a Korean M&A specialist, in the Corporate group of Tokyo office. With over 20 years’ experience in the US and Korea, Mr Lee has a strong track record in advising on foreign investment transactions. Daniel will work closely with DLA Piper’s other Korean practitioners based in the Hong Kong, Singapore and London offices.
An expert in M&A, general corporate, private equity and joint ventures, Mr Lee is a veteran in leading and negotiating over US $2.5 billion worth of foreign direct investments by Korean corporations overseas. Mr Lee has advised local and multinational clients across the broad spectrum of industry including automobile, tyre, construction, IT, real estate, electronics, fishery, and pharmaceuticals. He has advised on a number of billion dollar investments by some of Korea’s largest automobile manufacturers into the US, Europe, and Latin America, and advised major Korean banks on their international operations.
His extensive M&A expertise includes handling all aspects of Korean transactions in high profile global acquisitions as former Head of Legal at a leading multinational computer technology organization. Mr Lee also brings substantial compliance and forensic/regulatory expertise, in particular relating to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and developing risk management portfolio.

Admitted in California, Hawaii and Washington, DC, Mr Lee obtained his JD from the University of San Francisco School of Law in California. He is active as a board member or legal advisor in various industry and business organizations and has published articles in various Korean news and international media on legal and investment topics. Mr Lee is also known for establishment of the In-house Counsel Forum in Korea in 1999 which currently has 240 in-house counsel members. Mr Lee is fluent in English and Korean.
