BALTIMORE MD (LAWFUEL) – January 20, 2009 Baltimore-based law firm Ober|Kaler announced today Jonathan M. Holda, Carla N. Murphy and Donna J. Senft have been elected principals of the firm, effective January 1st.
Mr. Holda is a member of Ober|Kaler’s Intellectual Property Group. His legal practice focuses on counseling clients regarding business and intellectual property issues, including those relating to licensing, distribution, leasing, software development, e-commerce, website use, employment, technology transfer, video game and motion picture development and joint venture relationships. He also counsels clients on the identification, protection, acquisition, use and registration of trademarks, copyrights , patents and other intellectual properties.
Involved in both professional and community organizations, Mr. Holda is Vice President and a board member of Maryland Lawyers for the Arts, and a member of the International Game Developers Association, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the American, Howard County and Maryland State Bar Associations. He also serves on the board of Mother Seton House on Paca Street.
Mr. Holda is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law (J.D., with honors, 2000) and Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University (B.S.C.E., 1992). He resides in Ellicott City, Maryland.
Ms. Murphy practices in Ober|Kaler’s Employment & Labor Group, representing employers in discrimination and harassment claims, wage/hour claims, FMLA and benefit disputes, contract disputes, defamation and invasion of privacy claims, covenants against competition, and other business-related tort claims. She is author of Maryland Employment Law Forms and Practice Manual (Data Trace Publications, 2006), a comprehensive reference that provides important practical and legal guidance for those dealing with employment issues in Maryland.
Ms. Murphy is a member of the Chesapeake Human Resources Association; Federal Bar Association, Maryland Chapter; Maryland State Bar Association; Section on Labor & Employment; and the Women’s Bar Association. Most recently, she was appointed to the board of The Arc of Baltimore.
Ms. Murphy is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law (J.D., with honors, 2000) and Lafayette College (B.A., summa cum laude, 1997). She resides in the Roland Park community of Baltimore, Maryland.
Ms. Senft practices in the firm’s Health Law Group, where she focuses on health care regulatory matters. She represents nursing facilities, home health agencies, hospices, adult day care centers, rehabilitation agencies and DME suppliers, in Medicare and Medicaid certification and compliance issues, billing and reimbursement, and state licensure. She also advises health care providers and practitioners regarding acquisitions and internal reorganizations, coding and payment issues, licensure matters, peer review and professional standards. She is one of the Column Editors for Geriatic Nursing, a bi-monthly publication of the National Gerontological Nursing Association and the National Conference of Gerontological Nurse Practitioners.
Ms. Senft is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), as well as the Maryland Chapter of APTA, and the American, Maryland, and Virginia State Bar Associations. She serves on the board of That All May Freely Serve.
A graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law (J.D., 2001) and the University of Pittsburgh (B.S., 1978), Ms. Senft resides in Baltimore, Maryland.
