(JACKSON, MISS. – LAWFUEL) – Adams and Reese Partner Holmes Adams, out of the firm’s Jackson office, was elected as a Fellow of the Mississippi Bar Foundation. He was inducted into membership at the Foundation’s recent Annual Meeting and Fellows Induction Ceremony held at the Old Capitol Inn in Jackson in April.
The Bar Foundation was organized in 1963 to improve the administration of justice. It presently administers the Interest On Lawyers Trust Accounts Program, which has awarded more than $7 million to public interest, law-related programs.
Adams is the firm’s Education and Public Entity Practice Team Leader and has more than 30 years of experience in a wide range of federal and state court litigation involving commercial and contract disputes, employment and labor, civil rights defense and estate and tax matters. Adams has served as defense counsel on employment and labor issues and has argued several cases before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has also taken cases to the United States Supreme Court.
Adams has represented public bodies in almost every phase of their business, especially in defense of civil rights lawsuits and labor and employment matters. With respect to probate and estate matters, he has litigated in United States Tax Court and in State Courts throughout Mississippi. He also has experience in the area of health care.
Adams is a member of the American and Mississippi Bar Associations. A past chair of the Mississippi Law Institute, he is active in church and charities in his community. He is a former chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Museum of Art, where he also served as president of the Mississippi Museum of Art Foundation. He is general counsel of the Metro Jackson United Way and served as chairman of its board for 2003-2004. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Junior League of Jackson. He serves on several foundation boards, including the Eudora Welty Foundation and the Luckyday Foundation. He has served as senior warden and vestryman for St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cathedral.
Adams has been named one of the Best Lawyers in the United States in the field of estate and probate work and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America (Trusts and Estates). He was recently selected as one of the MidSouth Super Lawyers in litigation.
