Houston — The international law firm of Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P. announced today that its web site, www.fulbright.com, received the 2004 Best Large Law Firm Web Site Award from Law Office Computing Magazine. According to the most recent American Bar Association’s Large Law Firm Technology Survey, Law Office Computing Magazine is the publication used most by firms when researching hardware and software purchases.
The 2004 BTI survey of FORTUNE 1000 general counsel chose Fulbright as a “Top 30 Best A-Team Law Firm.” After its 2004 survey of board members of public companies, Corporate Board Member magazine named Fulbright among the top 20 corporate law firms in the U.S.
Fulbright.com is a content-rich, multi-lingual site that provides downloadable white papers, PowerPoint presentations, reprints of articles written by firm lawyers, and media clips. The site incorporates innovative vCard technology and enables clients to register on-line for Fulbright’s events and seminars.
Fulbright’s commitment to client service and to the technology to enhance that service is so important to Fulbright that, unlike most law firms, the firm dedicated a member of senior management to lead the web design project and to ensure that the Fulbright web site continues to reflect the firm’s ongoing commitment to its clients.
Linda L. Addison, Fulbright’s Technology Partner and member of the firm’s Executive Committee, led Fulbright’s in-house web design team. “We approached our web site the way we approach our clients’ legal matters,” Ms. Addison said. “ First, we listened. Then, we focused on the needs of both our domestic and international clients, and designed a site that addressed those needs. Client insight was essential to creating a meaningful web tool.”
As a result of extensive client analysis, several features were added and improved over this last year, including a new feature at www.fulbright.com/download that was recently recognized by Micah Buchdahl in his Internet Marketing Attorney’s “Nifty-Fifty” List of best legal web sites.
“I did not find this nifty use of the web site on the web site. Instead, it stood out while perusing an issue of Corporate Legal Times. The Fulbright ad offered an outstanding publication for interested readers, telling you to come to this special ‘download’ link to get it. Great integration of traditional print advertising with use of the web site. You can also see how many people come to a particular link, helping get better ROI on advertising,” said Buchdahl.
The site has two other client-savvy goals in mind: to facilitate communication and service for current firm clients and to provide potential clients with relevant information about global legal issues and Fulbright’s global capabilities. Fulbright.com now features translations of key portions of the site into German, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese and French.
To further enhance client communications with Fulbright attorneys, Fulbright.com also adds another important user tool—the vCard. Attorney contact information can now be downloaded and integrated into the user’s MicroSoft Outlook™ by selecting the vCard icon.
Client studies also led to new industry sections, addressing issues affecting a range of industries from aerospace to wholesale. Also enhanced were the site’s on-line registration for upcoming teleconferences, continuing education seminars and events.
Additional dynamic features include on-line promotional flash films, PowerPoint presentations, scrolling news tickers, and rotating event promotions. Cross-selling features include related web site listings, downloadable firm brochures, an alumni center and links to related practices and industries. The web site highlights not only the firm’s substantive practice areas, but also its long history of pro bono and charitable work.
“This site is the result of strong team work between our in-house technology and client relations groups. Refining the initial conception of the site over this last year, we have enhanced what was already a great redesign in 2003 to create a well-developed, content-rich web site,” said partner Kent Newsome, who worked on the web site redesign.
