1 March 2005 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Marcos Daniel Jiménez, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida; and William T. Sims, Special Agent in Charge, United States Secret Service, announced today that on February 25, 2005, defendant, Ronald O. Davidovic, an attorney, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Paul C. Huck to five (5) years’ imprisonment and four hundred (400) hours of community service after previously pleading guilty to one (1) count of receiving material containing visual depictions of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2252(a)(2).
A joint investigation by the Miami Electronic Crimes Task Force of the United States Secret Service, the Aventura Police Department, the Orange County, California District Attorney’s Office, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children lead to the discovery of thousands of images containing child pornography stored in computer files at Davidovic’s residence. The Miami Electronic Crimes Task Force conducted a forensic examination of the images, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children positively identified some of the images as known child sexual exploitation victims. A federal grand jury in Miami, Florida, returned an Indictment against Davidovic on October 1, 2004.
Mr. Jiménez commended the investigative efforts of the United States Secret Service’s Miami Electronic Crimes Task Force, the Aventura Police Department, the Orange County, California District Attorney’s Office, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michele Korver.
