INSA Taps Firm Partner Fran Townsend as Chairman of the Board

WASHINGTON, D.C., June 25, 2009 – LawFuel.com – The Intelligence and National Security Alliance (INSA) announced today that Baker Botts L.L.P. Partner Frances Fragos Townsend has been named chairman of the Board of Directors of INSA.

Townsend joined Baker Botts in April as a Partner. Her practice focuses on Global Security, Corporate Risk and Litigation. She is based in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office.

Townsend served as Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism and chaired the Homeland Security Council from May 2004 until January 2008. She previously served as Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor for Combating Terrorism.

She has more than 24 years of experience as a prosecutor, in intelligence policy and operations, and as an advisor to former President George W. Bush. She is also a contributor for CNN and has regularly appeared on network and cable television as a counterterrorism, national and homeland security expert.
