Telephone Cable Fault Locator Operates in Two Modes

Toronto, Canada – GAO Tek Inc. (www.GAOTek.com) has announced the availability of its full-featured telephone cable fault locator, an ideal tool for examining patch cards, ribbons or bunched pigtails and for the installation and maintenance of fiber optic networks, telecommunications and CATV networks. This fault locator features a large backlit LCD screen, a low voltage warning and an automatic power off design.
This telephone cable fault locator, model 98, integrates both TDR and intelligent bridge testing functions into one unit. It performs measurements at distances up to 15km and overcomes the limitation of the dead zone of a TDR; the dead zone distance is less than 1m. This high performance fault locator detects breaks and micro-bends even in jacketed fibers. It operates in both pulse and bridge modes. In pulse mode, the locator tests for line breaks and mix; while in bridge mode, it locates shorts and bad insulation. This compact locator works continuously for up to ten hours on a single charge.
