Lowenstein Sandler Boosts Insurance Practice with Addition of Lynda A. Bennett

Roseland, NJ, September 28, 2011 – Lowenstein Sandler welcomes the return of insurance litigator Lynda A. Bennett, as a Member of the Firm. Ms. Bennett, who will serve as chair of the Insurance Coverage group, rejoins Lowenstein from Herold Law, P.A., where she was a partner.

Lynda has more than 17 years of experience in complex commercial litigation, primarily fighting for corporate policyholder rights in insurance coverage disputes. She has recovered hundreds of millions for clients in environmental, asbestos, construction defect, mass tort, product liability, and D&O and professional liability cases. She also counsels clients with respect to contractual insurance requirements, new insurance products, innovative risk management tools, and assessment of their insurance programs. She is a recognized leader in her field, regularly included in national publications, including The Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and The Legal 500.

Lynda originally joined Lowenstein as an associate in 1997. As the group’s new chair, she succeeds Robert Chesler, who served in that position for 22 years, and will continue to work closely with the group’s Vice Chair, Michael David Lichtenstein.

“We are pleased to welcome Lynda back to the firm,” said Chesler. “Her return as leader of our group comes at an exciting and very active time for both the firm and the industry. As the volume and complexity of insurance-related litigation increases, Lynda’s significant experience will work directly to our clients’ benefit.”

“Under Bob’s strong leadership, Lowenstein earned a position as one of the key ‘go to’ firms in the insurance coverage space,” said Gary Wingens, Chairman and CEO of Lowenstein Sandler. “We are excited that Lynda is back on board to work with our team, continuing and expanding the market-leading service we provide to our clients.”

“I am thrilled to return to Lowenstein,” said Bennett. “Lowenstein’s Insurance Coverage group has grown impressively and is active in some very exciting, emergent areas, including construction defect litigation, cyber-insurance, privacy and food insurance. I look forward to collaborating with my talented colleagues to continue addressing policyholders’ growing needs in these and other areas of insurance law.”
Lynda’s arrival is the latest step in the growth of Lowenstein’s insurance practice. The firm recently welcomed New York-based Joseph Jean, Member of the Firm, and Rachel Wrightson, Counsel, augmenting its capabilities in the New York market and in the areas of property insurance and regulatory advice.

Lynda earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from The Valparaiso School of Law where she was Executive Editor of the Valparaiso Law Review, and her B.A., cum laude, from Susquehanna University. She is a Board Member and Past President of the New Jersey Womens Lawers Association, a 500-member specialty bar association. She is also a current member of the Executive Committee, and former Chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association Insurance Law Section.
