LawFuel Law Newswire – Tom Cruise’s split from Katie Holmes has had legal defences raised and a range of legal tactics developed as the lawyers from both sides manoevre for the positions sought by their clients, which relate to their child Suri and her custody as well as financial issues.
Cruise’s lawyer, Bert Fields, has been reported as saying that he cannot reveal what his client’s next move will be and whether and where he will files for divorce and whether he will be seeking joint custody of Suri.
Sources indicate that almost certainly Cruise will be seeking to file in California where he perceives a friendly reception to his claims when they are filed.
Katie Holmes has been making very public post-split appearances in New York City with their six-year-old daughter Suri Cruise, and Bert stated that Tom is a much more private person than his estranged partner.
Bert Fields said: “We are letting ‘the other side’ play the media until they wear everyone out and then we’ll have something to say.
“It’s not Tom’s style to do this publicly. He is really sad about what’s happening.”
The ‘Oblivion’ star married the former ‘Dawson’s Creek’ actress in November 2006.
