ATLANTA – Barnes & Thornburg LLP announced today that attorney Kiyoaki “Kiyo” Kojima has joined the firm as a partner in the Atlanta office. He is a member of the firm’s Corporate and Labor and Employment departments and of the Japanese Services Group. Previously, Kiyo was a partner at Berman Fink Van Horn P.C.

Kojima advises clients in corporate formation and governance; mergers and acquisitions; secured transactions; joint ventures; leasing and licensing matters; distribution, franchise, and finance arrangements; and a wide-range of commercial transactions. He also counsels clients in virtually all areas of labor and employment law, including employment agreements; policies and handbooks; union-avoidance training; discrimination and harassment claims; and hire, fire and discipline issues.

“We are thrilled with Kiyo’s addition as it offers a wonderful fit,” said Pete Morse, Chairman of the Global Services Practice Group. “Our ever-expanding international client base offers Kiyo a chance to shine, and he will provide tremendous skill and experience to our international clients looking to do business in the U.S. and overseas.”

An important part of Kojima’s practice includes his work with international companies in relocating, operating and establishing subsidiaries in the U.S. He assists companies with incentives and site selection; real estate acquisitions; corporate formation and governance; regulatory compliance; and contracts of all types to help ensure a seamless U.S. launch or transition for his clients.

“Kiyo will immediately enhance our Japanese Services Group’s platform,” said Mari Yamamoto Regnier, chair of the Japanese Services Group. “He is well-versed in assisting new and existing Japanese businesses in the U.S. and will prove to be an asset to clients. Kiyo brings a diverse and sophisticated skill set and we are excited to welcome to the firm.”
