LAWFUEL – Press Release Service – Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP has announced the opening of its new Las Vegas office and the election of three new partners, including Las Vegas legal community leaders William P. Curran and Stanley W. Parry – name partners of Curran & Parry. Joining Curran and Parry in this transaction are Partner Josh Reisman, Of Counsel Susan Johnson and Associate Maren Parry. The new office will operate under the name of Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP and Bill Curran will serve as the Las Vegas office’s managing partner.

“Growth in the West and expansion into the Las Vegas market have been two of Ballard’s top strategic priorities for a number of years,” said Ballard Chairman Arthur Makadon. “We are very fortunate to have attracted attorneys of the reputation and stature of Bill Curran and Stan Parry, along with all of the other great attorneys who will be joining us from Curran & Parry. Las Vegas is a market where local knowledge is critical and we believe we have a group of the most knowledgeable, well-known and highly regarded attorneys in the state joining us through this transaction.”

“As new Ballard partners and the foundation of the firm’s future expansion in Las Vegas, we believe that we can offer current and future firm clients something very special in Nevada – in-depth local knowledge, combined with the strengths and capabilities of a national legal powerhouse,” said Bill Curran. “Las Vegas is one of the fastest growing business and legal markets in the nation. Through this combination, we are determined to ensure Ballard becomes one of the drivers of economic growth in the Las Vegas market for many years to come.”

Bill Curran and Stan Parry are widely recognized as two of the major leaders of the Las Vegas Bar. Bill Curran was county counsel for Clark County from 1979 to 1989, served as chairman of the Nevada Gaming Commission from 1991 to 1999 and is a former president of the State Bar of Nevada. Stan Parry served as a legal advisor to the Clark County Planning Commission from 1980-1983 and as a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice Organized Crime Strike Force from 1983 – 1989. Stan is widely recognized as one of Las Vegas’s leading commercial litigators.

The new Las Vegas office will build upon the combined strengths of the two firms and focus initially on serving clients in five main areas where both firms have traditionally featured strong, national practices:

Resorts & Hotels, including gaming
Real Estate Development, including land use/zoning
Public Finance,
Business & Finance, and
Litigation.
With the expansion into Nevada, Ballard now has eight U.S. offices, including three offices in the western United States – Las Vegas, Salt Lake City and Denver. According to Ballard’s national Litigation department chair and Denver office managing partner Roger Thomasch, expansion into Las Vegas was inevitable for the firm.

“For many years, Ballard has served the interests of clients conducting business in Las Vegas and throughout Nevada from both our western and mid-Atlantic offices. Now, with a Las Vegas office staffed by attorneys with the reputation and ability of Curran and Parry, we can provide even greater assistance to the growing and vibrant Las Vegas business community, as well as national and international companies looking to expand into the Nevada market,” said Thomasch.
