Admits to Placing Fraudulent Deductions on Clients’ Forms
LAWFUEL – Law News Network – Jose Luis Ordonez, 58, of Northridge, California was sentenced today by United States District Court Judge Robert M. Takasugi to serve 21 months in federal prison for preparing false income tax returns.
On November 3, 2004, Ordonez pled guilty to two-count information before Judge Takasugi that accuses him of preparing income tax returns that contained false real estate property taxes, false gifts to charities, false un-reimbursed employee business expenses and false and fraudulent child care expenses.
Ordonez was sentenced by Judge Takasugi to 21 months in federal prison to be followed by 1 year of supervisory release and ordered to pay $5,000 in a fine to the United States Government. Ordonez will also be required to pay a special assessment of $200.
According to publicly-filed documents, Ordonez operated RLL Services, a tax preparation business in Van Nuys, California. It was alleged that Ordonez prepared 161 false tax returns for the tax years 1999 through 2002, which claimed false and fraudulent Schedule A deductions as well as false child and dependent care expenses. The total resulting tax loss, exclusive of interest and penalties was $200,501.
This case is a result of an investigation conducted by the Los Angeles Field Office of IRS Criminal Investigation.
