Alfonso Kennard, Jr. Joins Adams and Reese LLP

HOUSTON (LAWFUEL) — Alfonso Kennard, Jr. has joined the Houston office of Adams and Reese LLP as an associate with the Labor & Employment Team in the Special Business Services Practice Group. He has extensive experience in representing companies through the litigation process in both State and Federal Court, and has received favorable results and verdicts in favor of his business clients in both bench and jury trials as a first-chair trial attorney. Further, Mr. Kennard has been successful in attaining summary judgments and “death-penalty” sanctions in favor of his clients, thereby having lawsuits against them outright dismissed.

In addition to his litigation experience, Mr. Kennard has served as corporate counsel to a wide variety of companies to answer questions on employment matters, corporate issues, contract drafting and negotiation, and litigation prevention. Mr. Kennard is a full-service business lawyer. He advises clients from the very inception of their business by establishing the right corporation for their needs, handles complex litigation in those instances where it cannot be avoided, and helps clients take care of everything in between.

Mr. Kennard has successfully handled both traditional labor matters as well as employment litigation on behalf of clients all over the country. He has extensive experience in dealing with the National Labor Relations Board and union-related workforce issues. He has handled cases dealing with all facets of employment litigation, including discrimination lawsuits filed under Title VII, state and federal retaliatory discharge actions, non-compete and solicitation cases, and FLSA wage and hour disputes with the Department of Labor.

Mr. Kennard received his Business Degree in Marketing from the University of Notre Dame and his Juris Doctorate degree from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. While at Notre Dame, Mr. Kennard served as President of the Class of 1999. In law school, Mr. Kennard was Student Body President and was the sole recipient of the Outstanding Law Student Award. In addition, he won the 2002 Moot Court competition and received the award for Best Brief. Also in 2002, he was the sole law student in the State of Texas selected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Texas Young Lawyers’ Association.

Mr. Kennard is the President of the Notre Dame Alumni Association, Houston Chapter and serves on the Board of Directors for the St. Mary’s University Law Alumni Association. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and is admitted to practice in United States District Court, for the Western and Southern Districts of Texas.
