Although Eddie Griffin denied his crashing a rare $1.5 million Ferrari Enzo was a publicity stunt for his latest movie, the issue of liability is one that could cause some red faces.
Shortly after footage of comedian Griffin slamming the Ferrari Enzo into a barrier at the Irwindale Speedway, TMZ.com suggested the crash may have been a hoax after noticing that a cameraman in the car’s path never flinches.
During an appearance on Thursday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Griffin said of the cameraman: “This nut knew he had the footage of life. This is the kind of nut that worked at CNN and they send to Iraq and he’s over there dodging bullets.”
Griffin said he’s had to deal with his share of ribbing ever since footage of the incident hit the airwaves and the Internet last week.
The Enzo, valued at around $1.5 million, was owned by the executive producer of “Redline,” Daniel Sadek, whose exotic car collection is featured in the movie. Insurance and legal issues surrounding the ‘accident’ are something that might still cause some difficulties for both producer and comedian-crasher.
Sadek said that the car was damaged beyond repair and that he had “mixed feelings” about the wreck.
