Former CIA Records Chief To Focus On Role Of Technology In Reducing Litigation Risks

NEW YORK (November 18, 2008) – LawFuel – The Law Newswire – Incisive Media’s upcoming LegalTech New York 2009, the nation’s largest and most prestigious legal technology conference and trade show, will feature a keynote presentation by Christopher J. Olsen, CRM. Currently a principal systems engineer at Lockheed Martin working on the FBI’s SENTINEL information management initiative, Olsen served as chief, records and classification group for the Central Intelligence Agency. His presentation will open the event, which will take place February 2-4 at the Hilton Hotel in New York City. Complete conference information is available at www.legaltechshow.com.

Olsen’s presentation, “If You Wanna Go To Court, Get a Lawyer; If You Wanna Avoid Going to Court – Get a Records Manager,” will focus on the importance of comprehensive record management processes in reducing litigation risks.

“Risk reduction doesn’t just happen – it’s a planned strategy,” said Olsen. “Today, the difference between winning and losing a lawsuit can depend more on a company’s processes than the talent of their attorneys.”
As a senior executive reporting to the CIA’s CIO, Olsen oversaw the Agency’s records management program and the career development of one of the largest cadres of professional information management officers in the Federal government. Additionally, he provided information management support to the National Security Council, the National Reconnaissance Office, the U.S. Navy and the Office of the Director, National Intelligence, and served as a member of the Federal Records Panel. An internationally known authority and lecturer, Mr. Olsen is a leader on Lockheed Martin’s team for the FBI’s SENTINEL program—the largest information management initiative in the Bureau’s history.

LegalTech New York 2008 attracted 13,000 attendees and featured almost 300 exhibiting companies. The 2009 conference will offer more than 40 educational sessions for attendees, on topics ranging from electronic discovery and knowledge management, to emerging technologies.
