DALLAS (LAWFUEL) – Dallas attorney Kathleen J. Wu of Andrews Kurth LLP is highlighted in the Dallas Business Journal’s 2008 listing of Dallas/Fort Worth’s Most Influential Women. The prestigious listing is part of the publication’s inaugural “Women in Business” awards program.
Wu, a partner in the Real Estate and Banking/Finance practices at Andrews Kurth, is one of 25 women who will be profiled in a special July 25 section of the Dallas Business Journal. Among the notable women honored on the listing are U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson, real estate icon Ebby Halliday and Southwest Airlines president Colleen Barrett.

To compile the listing, the publication’s editors solicited nominations from across the area, and selected the honorees based on their wide scope of influence, both in their work and civic involvement.
Wu is a leader in the legal community and the firm, serving as a member of the firm’s Policy Committee and previously serving as the Managing Partner for Andrews Kurth’s Dallas office. She also is a driving force behind many of the firm’s diversity initiatives, including the firm’s biennial Executive Women’s Retreat and its quarterly Straightline publication. Her work in the community is equally notable, where she has been appointed by the City of Dallas and Dallas County on several of their commissions and boards, as well as holding leadership positions with nonprofit organizations and other local and national initiatives.

Earlier this year, Wu was recognized as one of Texas’ Most Powerful and Influential Women by Texas Diversity magazine, and she consistently earns a spot on “Top Lawyer” listings in publications such as Texas Lawyer, Texas Monthly and D Magazine. She also has earned numerous honors for her community and professional service, including the Justice David Wellington Chew Award from the Asian Pacific Interest Section of the State Bar of Texas, the Louise B. Raggio Award from the Dallas Women Lawyers Association and the “Women of Spirit” award from the American Jewish Congress Southwest Region.
Wu earned her law degree from the George Washington University Law School and her undergraduate degree from Columbia University. Her practice is concentrated in the areas of real estate, finance and business transactions.
