Attorney Jailed For Possession of Child Pornography

LawFuel.com –
PREET BHARARA, the United States Attorney for the
Southern District of New York, announced that ROBERT GROEZINGER,
53, an attorney in Patterson, New York, was sentenced to 57
months’ in prison today by United States District Judge STEPHEN
C. ROBINSON in White Plains federal court for the possession of
more than 40 images of child pornography.

GROEZINGER pled guilty before Judge ROBINSON on July
14, 2009, to possessing child pornography. According to the
publicly filed Complaint, in December 2007 and January 2008,
GROEZINGER solicited and received computer files containing
images of child pornography during online chats with an
identified perpetrator on the West coast. Other images of child
pornography were later found on GROEZINGER’s laptop computer and
a thumbdrive during a search of his Putnam County home.

GROEZINGER’s arrest was part of Operation Predator, a
comprehensive initiative by the United States Immigration and
Customs Enforcement (“ICE”) aimed at those who prey on children,
including human traffickers, international sex tourists, Internet
pornographers, and foreign national predators whose crimes make
them deportable. Since the initiative was launched in July of
2003, there have been more than 11,500 individuals arrested
nationwide.

Mr. BHARARA praised the efforts of ICE in connection
with this investigation.
Assistant United States Attorney ANNA M. SKOTKO is in
charge of the prosecution.
