Chicago, USA, 13 September 2011 – Baker & McKenzie was named one of the top law firms for women in the United States today by the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE) and the Flex-Time Lawyers organization.
Published in the Fall issue of Working Mother magazine, the closely watched annual recognition honors 50 law firms that have demonstrated an “unwavering dedication to creating programs and policies that support women in the legal profession.” The Firm was previously honored with this recognition in 2007 and 2008.
“This important honor supports our commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace where all can build successful careers,” said Philip F. Suse, Baker & McKenzie’s North American Managing Partner. “An inclusive environment is critical to our mission of providing exceptional service to clients.”
Underpinning the Firm’s recognition was its flexible work options policy, telecommuting support, and formal mentoring and coaching program, which helps women partners to develop their areas of expertise and advance their careers. In addition, an increasing number of women partners have participated in the firm’s global Partner Leadership Program, an intensive leadership training program conducted in conjunction with the Center for Creative Leadership in Colorado.
“We are pleased to once again be named one of the top law firms for women,” said Partner Regine Corrado, Chair of Baker & McKenzie’s North America Women’s Initiative, who oversees the implementation of programs designed to foster women leaders within the firm. “Approximately 80% of our 2011 North American partner class were women, which I think shows our progress and commitment to creating an unsurpassed environment for talented women lawyers to serve multinational clients.”
“Baker & McKenzie consistently demonstrates its powerful commitment to women’s advancement,” said Jennifer Owens, Director of the Working Mother Research Institute. “NAFE applauds their innovation and dedication.”
