Baker & McKenzie invites you to a seminar on US and European Private Fund Reforms

LawFuel.com – Law Newswire Service – Last month, we sent you an alert on the recent reforms on the EU and EU private fund regulation.

Our Baker & McKenzie Global Funds Group will be hosting a series of seminars in Asia Pacific, from 12 – 14 October 2010, to further discuss what the reforms mean for Asian and Australian managers. Addison Braendel (Partner, Chicago) and James Burdett (Partner, London) will lead the discussions.

The speakers will analyse the practical issues that Asian and Australian managers will need to consider as a consequence of the reforms, including:

· When will Asian and Australian managers need to be registered in the US or Europe in order to market to investors or provide funds management services in those jurisdictions?

· What are the key obligations that arise from becoming registered in the US or Europe?

· How will the key obligations (e.g., the proposed European capital and custody requirements) apply in practice to Asian and Australian managers and their funds?

· Will it be possible to operate effectively in the US or Europe without becoming registered in those jurisdictions?

· When will the various reforms become operative and what should Asian and Australian managers be doing now to prepare for them?

This is an important and relevant information seminar for private equity, real estate, infrastructure, hedge and other private investment fund managers, investors and their in-house counsel as well as market intermediaries.
