BALTIMORE October 23, 2006 – LAWFUEL – Law Jobs & Law News Network – Strengthening one of its core practices, Ober|Kaler announced today that Ethan Blank, an accomplished commercial transactions lawyer, has joined the firm’s Lending & Leasing Group as a principal.

Formerly of Fulbright & Jaworski in New York, Mr. Blank is a seasoned attorney with 14 years of experience. His transactional experience spans equipment leases, secured loans, asset securitizations, complex cross-border structured financings and restructurings both in and out of bankruptcy. Working from Ober|Kaler’s headquarters in Baltimore, Mr. Blank will continue to structure, draft and negotiate complex financing transactions on behalf of financial institutions, leasing companies and operators of commercial and business aircraft, railcars and vessels.

“Ethan’s highly sophisticated transactional experience fits well with the quality of service clients expect from Ober|Kaler,” commented Lending & Leasing Group co-chair Alan Mogol. “Our goal is to provide clients with a dedicated team of talented professionals. Ethan’s capabilities and client commitment fit that bill nicely.”

Mr. Blank, 41, adds muscle to Ober|Kaler’s national Lending & Leasing practice, enhancing its aircraft and equipment financing and cross-border services. He is the latest in a number of new additions to Ober|Kaler’s expanding commercial finance practice. Bill Thomas, a commercial transactions attorney, Stuart Schabes, a prominent national tax transactional lawyer, and Steve Cordi, former Maryland Deputy Comptroller, joined the firm earlier this summer.

“Ober|Kaler’s Lending & Leasing attorneys have an established reputation as industry leaders. I’ve long admired their innovative deal structuring and vast knowledge-base,” commented Mr. Blank. “I’m also excited about the synergy between practices. Stuart Schabes, for instance, has obtained significant tax refunds for business clients and has been involved in groundbreaking federal excise tax matters involving airlines and charter companies. These new capabilities can greatly benefit my clients.”

Mr. Blank received his J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law (1992), where he was Notes and Comments Editor for the Hofstra Law Review. He received his A.B. from Cornell University in 1987.

Mr. Blank is a new resident of the Columbia area.
