Blake, Cassels & Graydon announced today that competition lawyer Brian Facey will join the Firm’s Competition and Trade Group in Toronto.

Mr. Facey has experience in a variety of industries and has consistently been involved in many of Canada’s highest profile cases including representing Superior Propane in Canada’s leading merger efficiency case along with Blakes’ Cal Goldman and Neil Finkelstein. Mr. Facey has also acted for Canadian and international clients in relation to foreign investment issues under the federal Investment Canada Act.
Prior to joining Blakes, Brian Facey was a partner at Ogilvy Renault. He is an Adjunct Professor of Competition Law at the University of Western Ontario and also teaches competition law at the graduate level at Osgoode Hall Law School of York University. Mr. Facey is also a private sector adviser to the International Competition Network, a multijurisdictional governmental organization working towards the harmonization of competition laws among nations, currently chaired by Canada’s Commissioner of Competition, Konrad von Finckenstein, Q.C.
Brian Facey is ranked as one of Chambers Global’s The World’s Leading Lawyers (2003-2004), he is identified as a recommended lawyer by Global Counsel 3000 in its 2002/3 Edition, and he is included in Euromoney’s 2002 Guide to the World’s Leading Competition and Antitrust Lawyers. Nationally, he is recognized as an “up and coming” leading lawyer in Competition/Antitrust law by The Canadian Legal LEXPERT Directory 2003.
