New York, NY (June 30, 2008) – LAWFUEL – The American Red Cross in Greater New York (ARC/GNY) announced today that Ira M. Millstein has been named Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the American Red Cross in Greater New York effective July 1, 2008. Ira Millstein is a senior partner at the international law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges and currently serves as Chairman of ARC/GNY’s Chairman’s Council.

Bischoff, CEO of the American Red Cross in Greater New York. “Ira deeply cares about our city and the mission of the Red Cross. His appointment is a critical milestone as we prepare ourselves for the unknown challenges of the future. Ira has been instrumental in introducing influential New Yorkers to the humanitarian mission of the Greater New York Chapter. He is dedicated to advancing the public/private partnerships that will enable the Chapter to meet our ambitious goals of responding to major natural or manmade disasters with expanded resources and skills.”

In addition to practicing in the areas of government regulation and antitrust law at Weil, Gotshal & Manges, Mr. Millstein has counseled numerous boards on issues of corporate governance, including the boards of General Motors, Westinghouse, Bethlehem Steel, WellChoice (fka, Empire Blue Cross), the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS), Tyco International, The Walt Disney Co., the New York State Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the Ford Foundation, The Nature Conservancy and Planned Parenthood Federation of America. He provided significant guidance to Bonnie McElveen Hunter, the Chairman of the Board of Governor of the America Red Cross and she led the initiative to streamline its governance.
Mr. Millstein is a member of the board of the National September 11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center and serves as pro bono counsel to the Board of Directors of the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation, the agency overseeing the redevelopment of Lower Manhattan.
In addition to his active legal practice, Mr. Millstein is the Senior Associate Dean for Corporate Governance and the Eugene F. Williams Jr. Visiting Professor in Competitive Enterprise and Strategy at the Yale School of Management. In November 2006, the School of Management renamed its Corporate Governance Center in honor of Mr. Millstein, naming it the Millstein Center for Corporate Governance and Performance.
A graduate of Columbia Law School, Mr. Millstein is a Life Trustee and former Chairman of the Board of the Central Park Conservancy, Chairman Emeritus and a member of the Board of Overseers of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

E. Blake Moore, Jr., who was appointed as an At-Large member of the ARC/GNY Board of Trustees in August 2007 has accepted the role of Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees.
He is the CEO and a Managing Director of Allianz Global Investors U.S. Retail.
Based in New York City, Allianz Global Investors U.S. Retail is responsible for retail marketing and distribution for Allianz-owned asset managers in the U.S.: PIMCO, Nicholas-Applegate, RCM, Oppenheimer Capital, NFJ Investment Group (and former affiliate Cadence Capital Management). The company is also responsible for fund management and administration for the Allianz Funds and 26 closed-end funds, and oversees open-end fund, closed-end fund and managed account assets in excess of $125 billion.
Prior to joining Allianz Global Investors in 2004, Mr. Moore served in a variety of roles for more than 10 years at Nicholas-Applegate Capital Management, most recently as Managing Director and a member the firm’s Executive Committee. Before joining Nicholas-Applegate, Mr. Moore was in private practice as a business attorney at Luce, Forward, Hamilton and Scripps in San Diego. He also spent six years as an offensive lineman in the NFL, playing for both the Cincinnati Bengals and the Green Bay Packers.
Mr. Moore received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Wooster, class of 1980, and his law degree from Harvard Law School, class of 1989

ARC/GNY appointed three new members to the Board of Trustees:
Joel H. Moser, Partner at Fulbright & Jaworski, L.L.P.
Mr. Moser co-chairs Fulbright’s Global Infrastructure Group. In this role Mr. Moser bring his own extensive successful experience in supporting the planning, development, acquisition, financing, refinancing, operation and sale of infrastructure across the United States and around the world. Mr. Moser was named a “Super Lawyer” in 2007 by Law and Politics in a peer review based survey. Mr. Moser was lead counsel on the Public Finance 2006 “Deal of the Year.” This award, issued for innovative transactions by The Bond Buyer, was given to the financing of the New York Mets for “technical prowess and structure.” Mr. Moser earned his B.A. from Columbia University in The City of New York in 1980 and his J.D. from Albany Law School of Union University in 1983.
Craig Medwick, Regional Managing Partner for the Americas, New York, Clifford Chance.
Mr. Medwick’s practice encompasses a broad range of corporate and securities transactions including advising clients in private equity offerings and investments, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate securities, as well as the acquisition, development and protection of proprietary information and technology assets and venture capital investments. Mr. Medwick has been a partner since 1987 (at the time he was employed by Rogers & Wells which merged with Clifford Chance in 1999). He was the Executive Head in Mergers & Acquisitions until 2004, when he was named at US Managing Partner. Mr. Medwick earned his BA from the State University of New York at Binghamton, and his JD from New York University School of Law
Carlos D. Torres, Vice President, Emergency Management, Consolidated Edison
Carlos D. Torres is the vice president of Emergency Management at Consolidated Edison Company of New York. Mr. Torres joined Con Edison in 1985 as a management intern and he has held numerous management positions throughout his career. Before his work in Emergency Management, Mr. Torres was the general manager of Construction Services; earlier in his career, Mr. Torres held positions in Con Edison’s various business units, including director of Electric Operations Emergency Management; project manager in Emergency Management; manager in Bronx-Westchester Electric Operations – Overhead; manager of Manhattan Electric Operations – Underground; manager of Steam Construction; engineer in Steam Engineering; various supervisory and engineering positions in Gas Engineering and Operations. Mr. Torres holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering Management both from New Jersey Institute of Technology.
