(LAWFUEL) – Clyde & Co LLP is pleased to announce the arrival of partner* David McElveney to head the firm’s Abu Dhabi construction and projects practice. His arrival boosts the firm’s already well established construction and projects practice in Abu Dhabi and, regionally, to a total of 14 partners and associates.
David is a recognised construction, engineering and projects law specialist with over 22 years’ experience working on a range of projects internationally. David was formerly the head of the construction & engineering practice of Deacons, a major Australian/international law firm.
David’s practice has included advising the full range of project participants on project structuring, negotiation and preparation of project documentation, and advice during project delivery as well as claims management, dispute resolution, arbitration and litigation.
David’s move to Clyde & Co comes soon after the addition of regional construction expert Mark Blanksby and team from Pinsent Masons in mid 2008 into the firm’s Dubai office. Mark is widely acknowledged as one of the region’s top construction lawyers.
Along with David, Glen Warwick, a construction associate from Deacons, is joining the team in the Abu Dhabi office, while Jerome Martin, a construction associate from a boutique specialist construction firm in London, joins Clyde & Co’s Dubai office, where he will focus on dispute resolution.
Clyde & Co is already recognised in the GCC for its expertise in the construction industry, with existing team members listed by multiple legal directories as leading practitioners in the region.
Michael Grose, the head of Clyde & Co’s regional Projects and Construction practice, commented: “Clyde & Co is delighted to welcome a lawyer of David’s caliber to the partnership, especially at this critical time in Abu Dhabi’s development plans. The additions to the team reflect the differing demands for construction services between Abu Dhabi and Dubai and reflect the firm’s continuing commitment to providing clients with the expertise and experience for which the firm is already recognised.”

* Title of ‘partner’ subject to registration as a Registered Foreign Lawyer under Solicitors Regulation Authority regulations. David’s registration is currently in process.
