DALLAS – Nina Cortell -LAWFUEL – a Haynes and Boone, LLP partner widely recognized for her expertise handling complex appeals — has been elected to the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers.
The academy was founded in 1990 to recognize outstanding appellate lawyers and to promote improvement of appellate advocacy and appellate court administration. Academy members must establish a distinguished reputation over 15 years in a practice substantially focused on appeals.
Membership is limited to 500 lawyers who are nominated by an academy member, then reviewed and approved by a Membership Evaluation Committee before being elected at a regular academy meeting.
Ms. Cortell has achieved significant results in both the trial court and on appeal during her 30-year career. As a procedural expert, she has been asked by numerous judges, at both the state and federal levels, to assist courts with the judicial process. By appointment of the Texas Supreme Court, Ms. Cortell serves on the prestigious Texas Supreme Court Advisory Committee, which is comprised of judges and attorneys across the state and advises the Court in connection with its rule-making authority. She is also an elected member of the American Law Institute.
