Employment & Labor Lawyer Neil Duke to Receive Leadership in Law Award – Ober Kaler Law Firm

BALTIMORE – October 10, 2007 – LAWFUEL – The Law Firm Newswire – Ober|Kaler is pleased to announce that Neil E. Duke, a principal in the firm’s Employment & Labor Group, has been selected for The Daily Record’s 2007 Leadership in Law Award. Mr. Duke is among 24 lawyers and judges to be recognized for significant contributions to their profession and to their communities. The award ceremony will take place at a luncheon on November 16.

Leadership in Law was established by The Daily Record in 2000 to recognize those Maryland legal practitioners who demonstrate the highest level of commitment and service to their profession and to communities. Nominations collected from across the state are reviewed by an independent panel of judges who select honorees on the basis of professional accomplishments, community involvement and mentoring.

Mr. Duke’s professional and civic involvement is extensive. An active member of the Maryland State Bar Association, Mr. Duke serves on the Judicial Appointments Committee and is a graduate of the MSBA’s Leadership Academy. He is past president of the Monumental City Bar Association and a present member of the Rule Day Club, Maryland State Bar Foundation, Baltimore City Bar Association and American Bar Association, as well as a Maryland Bar Foundation Fellow.

Mr. Duke’s service to his community is equally compelling. He presently serves on the boards of the Baltimore City Public Schools System, Baltimore Homeless Services and the Govans Ecumenical Development Corp. and is a member of the Baltimore City Civilian Review Board. A dedicated mentor, Mr. Duke is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Baltimore School of Law in its trial advocacy program, where his work with aspiring young litigators earned him the 2005 Black Law Student Association Alumni Award.

Mr. Duke, a former Air Force Captain, is a graduate of The Citadel (BA, 1986) and the University of Baltimore School of Law (JD, cum laude, 1998), where he served as the Executive Editor of the Law Review and the Captain of the National Moot Court Team and Student Trial Lawyers’ Team. He is a resident of the Homeland community in Northern Baltimore City.
