CHICAGO (June 19, 2012) — James F. Goedken has joined Faegre Baker Daniels LLP as a partner with the intellectual property group. He will practice from the law firm’s Chicago office.
Goedken focuses his intellectual property practice on patents. His expertise includes preparation, prosecution, litigation and licensing of software, electrical and business method inventions. Goedken has counseled Fortune 50 and medium-sized corporations on national and international issues, as well as working with numerous Internet and software startup companies.
Before becoming a patent attorney, Goedken was the lead software engineer for Motorola’s cordless telephone products and continues to be an avid software programmer to this day. At Motorola, he led his software team through conception, design, development, testing and production of more than 25 models of cordless telephones and digital answering machines. Goedken personally coded more than 100,000 lines of microcontroller-based assembly language software and was an inventor on 10 electrical and software patents.
Before joining Faegre Baker Daniels, Goedken practiced for more than seven years with K&L Gates in Chicago. He graduated with honors from John Marshall Law School in 2001 after earning his bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Iowa State University in 1991.
